Conflict: Africa (1450-1750)

Conflict was common during this time period throughout Africa. There were many wars between rival kingdoms and the slave trade only increased the intensity. Kingdoms would trade their own people as slaves in return for weapons, including guns and gunpowder, to fight the war. Another conflict was the battle between Islamic Elites against animistic natives. It was not like the other wars because this one was a religious war. After the fall of the Songhai Islam attempted to expand into Africa, however it was met with people not ready to change their own beliefs. Africa during this time period was not peaceful and it was used to seeing conflict.
